Centennial Chromagraph by Variable Projects has been selected by The American Institute of Architects as a recipient of a 2015 Small Project Award. The project, a sculptural installation built on occasion of the centennial anniversary of the University of Minnesota School of Architecture, was constructed of 100 plywood ribs and 8,080 colorful pencils. The project demonstrates how historical data can be used to sculpt form and create engaging spatial effects.

Jury members for the 2015 Small Project Award program include Marc Manack of SILO AR+D, Roy Decker of Duval Decker, Susan Jones of Atelier Jones, Ben Schreiter of Zwick Construction, and Andrew Wells of Dake | Wells. Comments from the jury noted the project's "great analysis and research with extreme attention to detail."

This honor follows upon two previous awards for the project: an AIA Minnesota Honor Award, and an Honorable Mention by The Architect Newspaper's Best of Design Awards.
