Variable Projects has been selected as one of twenty offices to exhibit as part of the OBJECTS exhibition at the Center for American Architecture and Design at the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture. Our project Sphere With Nested Figures will be featured in the exhibition, which will run from October 17-31 and will be staged concurrently with the symposium Secret Life of Buildings, which will run from October 20-22. The brief called for projects that "throw light on architecture as a peculiar set of objects, phenomena, ideas, relations, connections, skills, materials, obligations, and operations." Our project does so by articulating a middle ground between pure objecthood and total differentiation, exploring the overlaps, tangencies, and resonances between the two. The event is organized by UT faculty Michael Benedikt and Kory Bieg; jurors for the exhibition included Benedikt, Bieg, Graham Harman, Ian Bogost, Leslie Van Duzer, Levi Bryant, Winka Dubbeldam, Jorge Otero-Pailos, and Albena Yaneva.
